Balch Park Pack Station and Mountain Home State Forest survived the Sequoia Complex Fire. Due to the innovative Forestry Management of Cal Fire, the forest and the historic Sequoia trees were able to withstand a serious threat. Mountain Home Demonstration Forest did have sections that were burned and will need to be salvaged, but the campgrounds escaped with minimal damage. After losing half of the regular 2020 season due to the fire, the Pack Station is looking to the 2021 season as a time to reopen and let customers see firsthand the results of solid forest management during a fire.
